Recognizes Tuesday, April 16, 2024, as Acadiana Red and White Day at the state capitol. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To recognize Tuesday, April 16, 2024, as Acadiana Red and White Day at the state capitol. 3 WHEREAS, One Acadiana, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the UL 4 Lafayette Alumni Association are bringing Acadiana's economic development, chamber, 5 civic, business, and higher education partners together for "Acadiana Red and White Day" 6 to promote the shared interests of the Acadiana Region; and 7 WHEREAS, these Acadiana Region leaders are focused every day on priorities to 8 advance the Acadiana Region and the state of Louisiana and have made tremendous strides 9 to enhance economic competitiveness, talent development, and quality of place through 10 collaboration and innovation with legislators and other public officials; and 11 WHEREAS, Acadiana Red and White Day provides an opportunity to advocate for 12 their priorities and celebrate shared achievements; and 13 WHEREAS, a top priority of the region's leaders is communicating the crucial role 14 of our higher education institutions in improving economic competitiveness, cultivating 15 talent, and boosting quality of life in each region and the entire state; and 16 WHEREAS, Acadiana is coming together to recognize the ongoing successes of the 17 University of Louisiana at Lafayette in their academic, athletic, and research endeavors; and 18 WHEREAS, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has, for 125 years, supported Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 42 SLS 24RS-1933 ORIGINAL 1 and improved the educational, social, and economic well-being of Acadiana and beyond; and 2 WHEREAS, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has an annual statewide 3 economic impact of $2.7 billion, supporting over 34,600 jobs, and returning eight dollars to 4 the Louisiana economy for every one dollar invested; and 5 WHEREAS, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is preparing for the next 125 6 years of progress by advancing a vision for healthcare, K-12 education, sustainability, and 7 other areas to improve quality of life for Louisiana and its citizens; and 8 WHEREAS, continued success in supporting the University of Louisiana at Lafayette 9 and advancing the Acadiana Region and the state of Louisiana requires ongoing leadership, 10 shared vision, and strong collaboration with partners throughout the region and the entire 11 state. 12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 13 hereby designates Tuesday, April 16, 2024, as Acadiana Red and White Day at the state 14 capitol.
