STUDENT/LOANS-SCHOLARSHP:  Provides relative to scholarships awarded through
the Geaux Teach Program
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 17:7.6(G), relative to the Geaux Teach Program; to provide for
3 the application and use of scholarship awards; and to provide for related matters.
4Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1.  R.S. 17:7.6(G) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
6 ยง7.6.  Geaux Teach Program and Geaux Teach Fund

8	G.  Scholarship awards shall be applicable only to the cost of tuition, required
9 fees, and textbooks and instructional materials required for the course of study.  The
10 award shall be used only after before all other state or institutional financial aid and
11 awards are applied and only for any remaining balance due for tuition, required fees,
12 and textbooks and instructional materials required for the course of study.

Abstract: Changes order of disbursement of Geaux Teach scholarships relative to certain
other financial aid and awards.
Present law provides for the Geaux Teach Program, which awards scholarships to students
in approved teacher preparation programs at postsecondary education institutions.

aid and awards are applied.  Proposed law instead requires use of scholarships before all
