HB 119 Original 2025 Regular Session	Deshotel
Abstract: Reduces the allowable percentage of light transmission through any sun blocking
film or device on the front side windows of a motor vehicle.
Present law requires that a sun screening device used in conjunction with automotive safety
glazing materials have a light transmission of at least 40% on front side windows, 25% on
side windows behind the driver, and at least 12% on the rearmost windows. Further
prohibits sun screening devices that have a luminous reflectance of more than 20%.
Additionally, provides certain exemptions to present law.
Proposed law modifies present law by changing the percentage of light transmission
allowable for sun screening devices, including window tint, on the front side windows of a
motor vehicle from 40% to 25%.
(Amends R.S. 32:361.1(C)(1))
