Abstract: Authorizes state supplemental pay for fire protection officers employed by the Lakefront
Management Authority
Present law provides state supplemental pay of $600 per month for fire protection officers employed
full-time by any municipality, parish, fire protection district, or other political subdivision
maintaining a fire department, or by the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana or the Coushatta Tribe of
Louisiana, or by any nonprofit corporation contracting with any such political subdivisions to
provide fire protection services. Also provides state supplemental pay of $600 per month to fire
protection officers employed full-time by the New Orleans Port Authority, Plaquemines Port Harbor
and Terminal District, and the Port of South Louisiana.
Proposed law retains present law and adds full-time fire protection officers of the Lakefront
Management Authority to the list of fire protection officers authorized to receive state supplemental
pay of $600 per month.
Effective if and when the proposed amendment of Article X of the Constitution of La. contained in
the Act which originated as House Bill No. ___ of this 2025 Regular Session of the Legislature is
adopted at a statewide election and becomes effective.
