Abstract: Increases the membership of the Public Service Commission from 5 to 7.
Present constitution provides that there shall be five members of the Public Service Commission
(commission) that shall be elected for overlapping terms of six years at the time fixed for
congressional elections from single member districts established by law.
Proposed constitution changes present constitution by providing that the commission shall increase
to seven members. Proposed constitution adds that the governor shall appoint two members of the
commission, confirmed by the Senate, that shall serve the state-at-large.
Present constitution provides that no person who has served as a member of the commission for
more than two and one-half terms in three consecutive terms shall be elected to the commission for
the succeeding term.  Present constitution provides that this applies to individuals elected before a
certain date.
Proposed constitution retains present constitution but removes applicability language.
Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held
November 3, 2026.
