Abstract: Increases the amount that the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections (DPS&C) pays for
the confinement of persons in parish jails or institutions.
Present law provides that the DPS&C shall pay $25.39 per day for the confinement of persons in
parish jails or institutions for Fiscal Year 2019-2020.
Present law provides that the DPS&C shall pay $26.39 per day for the confinement of persons in
parish jails or institutions for Fiscal Year 2020-2021 and each fiscal year thereafter.
Proposed law increases the amount the DPS&C pays for the confinement of persons in parish jails
or institutions at the following rates for the following fiscal years:
(1).2025-2026: $35
(2).2026-2027: $37
(3).2027-2028: $39
(4).2028-2029 and each fiscal year thereafter: $40
