[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 40 Original 2025 Regular Session Henry Abstract: Requires Acadia Parish to elect a parish administrator and provides for terms. Present law generally requires police juries to elect a parish treasurer for a term of two years. Provides that the office of the parish treasurer shall be located at a site designated by the local governing authority. Requires the parish treasurer to also maintain an office at the parish seat. Proposed law retains present law. Present law requires the governing authority of Acadia Parish to elect a parish secretary-treasurer for a term of four years. Provides that the term is concurrent with the term of the members of the parish governing authority. Proposed law removes present law and instead requires the governing authority of Acadia Parish to elect a parish administrator for a term of four years. Provides that the term shall begin two years after the beginning date of the term of the members of the parish governing authority. Proposed law provides that the term of the secretary-treasurer in office on the effective date proposed law terminates two years after the beginning date of his term. Provides that the term of the parish administrator begins on the termination date of the term of the secretary-treasurer. Additionally provides that the parish administrator's term terminates two years after the beginning date of the next term for the members of the parish governing authority. (Amends R.S. 33:1651(C))
