WILDLIFE & FISHERIES: Establishes a red drum tag program 1 AN ACT 2To enact R.S. 56:326.7, relative to red drum; to authorize the Department of Wildlife and 3 Fisheries, wildlife and fisheries commission, to promulgate rules and regulations for 4 establishing a red drum tag program; and to provide for related matters. 5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 56:326.7 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง326.7. Red drum tag program 8 The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, wildlife and fisheries commission, 9 shall be authorized to promulgate rules and regulations to establish a program for the 10 purchase of a tag to kill red drum over the twenty-seven inch limit. The program 11 shall provide for limitations for tags dependent on the health of the population in 12 specific, designated areas. The tags shall be made available for a twenty-five dollar 13 fee in addition to the required licensing fee. The money collected from the 14 additional fee for the purchase of red drum tags shall be utilized to administer the 15 program and any remaining funds shall be deposited into the Marine Finfish Stock 16 Enhancement Fund established in R.S. 56:10(B)(19). Proposed law provides for the Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, wildlife and fisheries commission, to establish a program to make available a red drum tag for killing red drum that are larger than the 27" limit provided by present law. Proposed law requires that the health of the population of red drum be considered when making available tags for killing red drum larger than 27". Proposed law establishes a $25 fee for the red drum tag and provides for the expenditure of the fee.
