Abstract:  Reduces the fee applicable to updating a driver's license to comply with REAL ID
standards and exempts the reduced fee from required contributions applicable to basic license
fees.  Requires the renewal date on the original driver's license to remain unchanged on the
updated driver's license.
Present law specifies that every applicant for a Class "D" driver's license, or for a renewal of a Class
"D" driver's license, except those bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans, must pay a basic
license fee of $42.75.  Specifies that $11.15 of the fee must be paid to the La. State Police
Retirement System Fund and $1.50 must be forwarded by the dept. to the litter abatement account
which is created within the Conservation Fund through the provisions of present law.
Proposed law modifies present law by adjusting the driver's license fee for Class "D" applicants
updating this credential to comply with REAL ID standards from $42.75 to $10 and exempts the fee
from the required contributions in present law applicable to the basic license fees.  Further, requires
the renewal date on the original license remain unchanged on the updated license.
Present law specifies that the fee for Class "D" driver's licenses, or renewal of a Class "D" driver's
license, issued to bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans must pay $54. Additionally requires
that $15 be payable by the dept. to the board of trustees of the police pension fund of the city of New
Orleans.  Additionally, $1.84 of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund and
$1.50 fee be forwarded by the dept. to the litter abatement account which is created within the
Conservation Fund through the provisions of present law.
Proposed law modifies present law adjusting the driver's license fee for Class "D" applicants that are
bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans updating this credential to become exclusively
complaint with REAL ID standards from $54 to $10 and exempts the fee from the required
contributions in present law applicable to the basic license fees.  Further, requires the renewal date
on the original license remain unchanged on the updated license. 
Present law requires every applicant for a Class "E" driver's license, or for a renewal of a Class "E"
driver's license, except those bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans, pay a basic license fee
of $20.25.  Additionally, requires $5.63 of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System
Fund and $1.50 of the fee be forwarded by the dept. to the litter abatement account which is created
within the Conservation Fund through the provisions of present law.

updating this credential to comply with REAL ID standards from $20.25 to $10 and exempts the fee from the required contributions in present law applicable to the basic license fee.  Further, requires

license, issued to bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans shall be $20.25. Additionally,
requires $3.75 be paid by the dept. to the board of trustees of the police pension funds of the city of
New Orleans and $3.75 of the fee be paid to the La State Police Retirement System Fund.  Further,
requires $1.50 of the fee be forwarded by the dept. to the litter abatement account which is created
within the Conservation Fund through the provisions present law.

Present law specifies that every applicant for a Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license,
or for a renewal of a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, except for those bona
fide residents of the city of New Orleans, must pay a basic license fee of $61.50.  Additionally,
specifies that $16.20 of the fee must be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund and that
$1.50 of the fee must be forwarded by the dept. to the litter abatement account which is created
within the Conservation Fund through the provisions of present law.
Proposed law modifies present law by adjusting the commercial driver's license fee for Class "A",
"B", or "C" applicants updating this credential to comply with REAL ID standards from $61.50 to
$10 and exempts the fee from the required contributions in present law that are applicable to the
basic license.  Further, requires the renewal date on the original license remain unchanged on the
updated license.
Present law specifies that the fee for a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, or
for the renewal of a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, issued to bona fide
residents of the city of New Orleans must be $76.50.  Additionally, requires $15fee be paid by the
dept. to the board of trustees of the police pension fund of the city of New Orleans and $15 be paid
to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund.  Further, requires $1.50 of the fee be forwarded by
the dept. to the litter abatement account which is created within the Conservation Fund through the
provisions of present law.

Orleans, must pay a basic license fee of $22.13.  Additionally, requires the license expire on the
anniversary of the birthday of the applicant which is nearest to a date of six years subsequent to the
issuing of the license, unless revoked, canceled, or suspended.
Proposed law modifies present law by adjusting the driver's license fee for Class "D" applicants 70
years of age or older updating this credential to comply with REAL ID standards from $22.13 to $10.
Further, requires the renewal date on the original license remain unchanged on the updated license.
Present law requires that $5.56 of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Pension and Retirement
System Fund and $1.50 of the fee be forwarded by the dept. to the litter abatement account which
is created within the Conservation Fund through the provisions of present law.
Proposed law modifies present law by exempting individuals 70 years or older from the required
contributions in present law  when updating a Class "D" driver's license to comply with the REAL
ID standard by waiving the basic license fees for these applicants.
Present law specifies that every applicant 70 years of age or older for a Class "D" driver's license,
or for the renewal of a Class "D" driver's license, issued to bona fide residents of the city of New
Orleans, must pay the basic license fee of $27.75 which is the cost of the license.  Additionally,
requires that this license expires on the anniversary of the birthday of the applicant which is nearest
to a date of six years subsequent to the issuing of the license, unless revoked, canceled, or suspended.
Proposed law modifies present law by adjusting the driver's license fee for Class "D" applicants 70
years of age or older that are bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans updating this credential
to comply with REAL ID standards from $27.75 to $10.  Further, requires the renewal date on the
original license remain unchanged on the updated license.
Present law requires that $7.50 of the fee be payable by the dept. to the board of trustees of the police
pension fund of the city of New Orleans.  Additionally, requires ninety- two cents 
of the fee be paid to the State Police Pension and Retirement Fund and $1.50 of the fee be forwarded
by the dept. to the litter abatement account which is created within the Conservation Fund through
the provisions of present law.
Proposed law modifies present law by exempting bona fide residents that are 70 years or older from
the required contributions in present law when updating a Class "D" driver's license to comply with
the REAL ID standard by waiving the basic license fees for these applicants.
