HIGHWAYS:  Designates certain portions of Louisiana Highways
1	AN ACT
2To designate a portion of Louisiana Highway 466 in the city of Gretna, between Franklin
3 Street and Huey P. Long Avenue, as the "Chief B.H. Miller, Jr. Memorial Parkway";
4 to designate the elevated  portion on Louisiana Highway 31 in St. Martin Parish as
5 the "Coach Raymond Lavergne Sr. Memorial Bridge"; to designate a portion of
6 Louisiana Highway 26 in Jefferson Davis Parish as "Dr. Martin Luther King
7 Memorial Highway"; to designate a portion of North Frontage Road in Jefferson
8 Davis Parish as "Representative John E. Guinn Memorial Highway"; to designate the
9 portion of Louisiana Highway 20, at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 20 and
10 Louisiana Highway 307 to the LaFourche and St. James Parish line as the "Martha
11 Ann Woods-Shareef Highway"; and to provide for related matters.
12Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
13 Section 1.  The portion of Louisiana Highway 466 in the city of Gretna, between
14Franklin Street and Huey P. Long Avenue, shall be known and is hereby designated as the
15"Chief B.H. Miller, Jr. Memorial Parkway".
16 Section 2.  The elevated portion of Louisiana Highway 31 in the town of 
17Arnaudville, St. Martin Parish, which crosses Bayou Fuselier, shall be known and  is hereby
18designated as the "Coach Raymond Lavergne Sr. Memorial Bridge".
19 Section 3.  The portion of Louisiana Highway 26 in Jefferson Davis Parish, within
20the city limits of Jennings, between Baker Street and West Racca Road, shall be known and
21is hereby designated as "Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Highway".

1 Section 4.  The portion of  North Frontage Road in Jefferson Davis Parish,  in the city
2of Jennings, between North Cutting Avenue and Louisiana Highway 97, shall be known and
3is hereby designated as "Representative John E. Guinn Memorial Highway";
4 Section 5. The portion of Louisiana Highway 20, at the intersection of Louisiana
5Highway 20 and Louisiana Highway 307 to the LaFourche and St. James Parish line, shall
6be known and is hereby designated as the "Martha Ann Woods-Shareef Highway."
7 Section 6.  The Department of Transportation and Development is hereby directed
8to erect and maintain appropriate signage reflecting these designations provided local or
9private monies are received by the department equal to the department's actual costs for
10material, fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to exceed the sum
11of five hundred fifty dollars per sign.

Directs the Dept. of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to erect and maintain
appropriate signage reflecting these designations provided local or private monies are
received by DOTD equal to its actual costs for material, fabrication, mounting posts, and
installation of each sign, not to exceed the sum of $550 per sign.

The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Transportation,
Highways and Public Works to the original bill:
1. Add the designation of the elevated portion of La. Hwy. 31 in St. Martin Parish
as the "Coach Raymond Lavergne Sr. Memorial Bridge".
