VITAL RECORDS/BIRTH CERT:  Provides relative to the issuance of a death certificate
in certain circumstances
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 40:41(C)(6), relative to death certificates; to permit a notary to obtain a death
3 certificate in certain circumstances; and to provide for related matters.
4Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1.  R.S. 40:41(C)(6) is hereby enacted to read as follows:

10	(6)  The state registrar shall issue a certified copy of a death certificate to a
11 notary if the notary submits his credentials and declares in writing that he is assisting
12 an heir of the deceased in the preparation of a small succession in accordance with
13 Code of Civil Procedure Article 3431 et seq.

Abstract:  Permits the state registrar to issue a death certificate to a notary assisting an heir
of the deceased in preparing a small succession.
Present law allows the state registrar to issue a death certificate to certain individuals.
Proposed law adds a notary to the individuals eligible to receive a death certificate if he
attests, in writing, that he is assisting an heir in preparation of a small succession.
