HOUSE BILL NO. 92

PUBLIC BUILDINGS/GROUNDS:  Provides for naming the Acadiana Criminalistics
Laboratory after Bo Duhe'
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 40:2267.6, relative to the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory District; to
3 authorize the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory Commission to name the new
4 Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory building; to provide for an effective date; and
5 to provide for related matters.
6	Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
7	as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
8	Louisiana.
9Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1.  R.S. 40:2267.6 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
11 §2267.6.  Martin Bofill "Bo" Duhé Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory building
12	Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the Acadiana Criminalistics
13 Laboratory Commission is hereby authorized to name the new Acadiana
14 Criminalistics Laboratory building the Martin Bofill "Bo" Duhé Acadiana
15 Criminalistics Laboratory in honor of District Attorney Martin Bofill "Bo" Duhé.
16 Section 2.  The legislature finds that Martin Bofill "Bo" Duhé served as a member
17of the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory Commission beginning in 2015, as president of
18the commission from 2017 through 2021, and worked diligently and tirelessly with the
19Acadiana Regional Legislative Delegation and other state and local officials to obtain the

1necessary funding for constructing and equipping the new 40,000 square foot Acadiana
2Criminalistics Laboratory.
3 Section 3.  This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
4signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
5by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If
6vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
7effective on the day following such approval.

Abstract:  Authorizes the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory Commission to name the new
Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory building.
Present law establishes the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory District as a political
subdivision for the operation of the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory for the purpose of
crime detection, prevention, and investigation.  Provides that the district is governed by the
Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory Commission.
Proposed law authorizes the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory Commission to name the
new Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory building the Martin Bofill "Bo" Duhe' Acadiana
Criminalistics Laboratory.
