CONDOLENCES:  Expresses the condolences of the House of Representatives on the death
of Safaria Angelique McFarland
1	A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Safaria
3 Angelique McFarland.
4 WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
5Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing of Safaria
6Angelique McFarland; and
7 WHEREAS, Safaria was baptized at the age of seven by her beloved uncle, the late
8Bishop George A. Spears, Sr., at Antioch Baptist Church, and she served the church as a part
9of its youth ministry and vacation Bible school ministry; later in life, she moved her
10membership to United Christian Faith Ministries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and worshiped
11under the leadership of Dr. Mark A. Ellis; and
12 WHEREAS, Safaria was a proud 1999 graduate of Glen Oaks High School, and she
13received both a bachelor's and master's degree in business management from Southern
14University and A&M College in Baton Rouge; she earned a second master's degree from the
15University of Phoenix; and
16 WHEREAS, Ms. McFarland was an incredibly gifted woman who possessed a
17genuine passion for service, working as an educator and volunteering as a NYSP counselor
18and Boys and Girls Club group counselor; and
19 WHEREAS, Ms. McFarland was most passionate about singing and praising God,
20and she sang with Gary A. Spears & God's Anointed Singers, Arthur & Friends Community

1Choir, and Bethesda; she had an eye for fashion such as jewelry, shoes, purses, and perfume,
2and she truly cherished the time she spent with family and friends; and
3 WHEREAS, Safaria Angelique McFarland leaves to cherish her memory her devoted
4and loving parents, Kenneth and Neomi McFarland; niece, Daija McFarland; godparents,
5Georgia Brumfield and Willie Gordon; godsisters, Angela S. Smith, Kiyana G. Patton,
6Anquista M. McCoy, and Debra G. Robertson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and
7friends; she will be deeply missed, but the legacy of her love shall live on in perpetuity in
8the hearts and minds of those who were privileged to have known her.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Safaria
11Angelique McFarland and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that her family, friends, and
12loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of her beautiful life.
