HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 7

SCHOOLS/FINANCE: Requests that the legislative fiscal office update the report issued
in February 2013 pursuant to SCR No. 137 of the 2012 Regular Session regarding
the means and methods used to provide funding for laboratory schools

2To urge and request the legislative fiscal office to update the report issued in February 2013
3 pursuant to Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 137 of the 2012 Regular Session
4 regarding the means and methods used to provide funding for the operation of
5 laboratory schools.
6 WHEREAS, through the adoption of House Resolution No. 133 of the 2005 Regular
7Session, the House of Representatives requested that the legislative fiscal office study the
8means and methods used to provide state dollars and other funding for the operation of
9laboratory schools around the state, including but not limited to issues concerning equity and
10fairness in funding methods and amounts; and
11 WHEREAS, pursuant to House Resolution No. 133, the legislative fiscal office
12conducted a study and provided a report to the House Committee on Education in March
132006; thereafter, pursuant to Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 137 of the 2012 Regular
14Session, the legislative fiscal office provided an updated report to the House and Senate
15committees on education in February 2013; and
16 WHEREAS, there is a need to update the study, findings, and options contained in
17the 2013 report.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the legislative fiscal office to update
20the report issued in February 2013 pursuant to Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 137 of the

12012 Regular Session regarding the means and methods used to provide funding for the
2operation of laboratory schools around the state, including but not limited to issues
3concerning equity and fairness in funding methods and amounts.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislative fiscal office shall provide a
5written report of its findings and recommendations to the House Committee on Education
6no later than 60 days prior to the 2026 Regular Session of the Legislature.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
8legislative fiscal officer.
