The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Alana M. Perrin. DIGEST SB 1 Original 2025 Regular Session Price Present law provides that any person in the system with at least 10 years of service credit, with a membership that begins on or before June 30, 2008, previously employed in any law enforcement agency of the federal government, or of any other state or any political subdivision of another state where such service is not creditable in any public retirement or pension system, fund, or plan in this or any other state or of the federal government, may purchase service credit in the system for the employment by paying all actuarial costs of the purchase as determined by the system actuary. Proposed law changes the existing amount of service credit a person must have to purchase service credit from 10 years to six months and removes the membership enrollment start date condition. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action. (Amends R.S. 11:1305(D)(2))
