1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 37:1042(D)(2), relative to the Louisiana State Board of
3 Optometry Examiners; to provide for qualifications of board members; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 37:1042(D)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1042. Louisiana State Board of Optometry Examiners; appointment; terms of
8	members; protected action and communication

12	(2) No member of the board shall hold an elected or appointed position in an
13 optometry professional association domiciled in Louisiana at any time during the
14 term of his appointment to the board. The provisions of this Paragraph shall not be
15 construed to prohibit a member of the board from holding an elected or appointed
16 position in an association for regulatory boards of optometry.

Present law provides for qualifications of members of the La. State Board of Optometry
Examiners.
Present law prohibits any member of the board from holding an elected or appointed position
in an optometry professional association during the member's term of appointment to the
board.
Proposed law limits the prohibition to an optometry professional association that is
domiciled in La.
Effective August 1, 2025.
