1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 56:634(A), relative to frogging at night; to provide for carrying
3 and possession of firearms; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 56:634(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
6 ยง634. Frogs; season; jacklights; restrictions on taking
7	A. Frogs may be taken with the aid of a jacklight or any other visible light
8 and by means of mechanical devices known as frog catchers. A person is also
9 permitted to take frogs with devices that puncture the skin such as gigs and spears.
10 No person shall carry or have in his possession any shotgun, rifle, or firearm while
11 taking or hunting frogs during the nighttime.

Present law provides for hunting and taking of frogs with certain aids and equipment and
prohibits the carrying or possession of a shotgun, rifle, or firearm while taking or hunting
frogs at night.
Proposed law maintains present law and removes the prohibition on carrying or possession
of a shotgun, rifle, or firearm while hunting or taking frogs at night.
Effective August 1, 2025.
