Provides for a legal holiday in the accrual of prescription. (8/1/25) 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact Civil Code Art. 3454, relative to prescription; to provide for a legal 3 holiday in the expiration of the last day of the prescriptive period; and to provide for 4 related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. Civil Code Art. 3454 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 Art. 3454. Computation of time 8 In computing a prescriptive period, the day that marks the commencement 9 of prescription is not counted. Prescription accrues upon the expiration of the last day 10 of the prescriptive period, and if that day is a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, 11 prescription accrues upon the expiration of the next day that is not a legal holiday.
