Proposed law provides that a BESE approved nonpublic school student may be eligible to participate
in an extracurricular activity or interscholastic sport if the nonpublic school the student is enrolled
in does not offer the activity or sport and the student lives in the attendance zone of the public
school.
Proposed law requires a nonpublic school student to try out or apply for a public school activity or
sport in the same manner, time, and place as the public school students.
Proposed law provides that a nonpublic school student must maintain all requirements for
participation that a public school student would in order to participate in the activity or sport.
Proposed law provides that failure to meet the requirements for participation will be a cause for
removing the student from the activity or team.
Effective August 1, 2025.
