Section 2. This Act shall become effective on January 1, 2026; if vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on the day following such approval by the legislature or January 1, 2026, whichever is later. Proposed law retains present law and adds that employment shall not include services performed by an individual during the five calendar years following the date of hire if the employer employs the individual within one year of being released from incarceration and the individual was not incarcerated for crimes enumerated in R.S. 15:541(2), (24), (25), or (27).
