[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] DIGEST SB 84 Original 2025 Regular Session Talbot Present law (R.S. 42:1121(A)(1)) provides that no former agency head or elected official shall, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service as the head of such agency or as an elected public official serving in such agency, assist another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction, involving that agency or render any service on a contractual basis to or for such agency. Proposed law retains present law. Present law (R.S. 42:1121(A)(2)) provides that no former member of a board or commission shall, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service on such board or commission, contract with, be employed in any capacity by, or be appointed to any position by that board or commission. Proposed law retains present law but provides that a commissioner with a masters of business administration degree and at least 30 years of work experience in hospitality or hotel management serving as of January 1, 2025, may be employed, by the Ernest N. Morial-New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority, regardless of when his public service terminated, upon a finding by the board of commissioners that circumstances require such action. Proposed law provides that the provisions of proposed law shall terminate on December 31, 2025. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
