An Act relative to the town of Monson treasurer-collector position.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 Section l. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, there shall be a 
2treasurer-collector for the Town of Monson who shall have all the powers, perform all duties and 
3be subject to the liabilities and penalties now or hereafter conferred and imposed by law on town 
4treasurers and collectors of taxes. The treasurer-collector shall be appointed and may be removed 
5by the select board of the Town. The select board may establish an employment contract with the 
6treasurer-collector for salary, fringe benefits and other conditions of employment, including, but 
7not limited to, severance pay, reimbursement for expenses incurred in the performance of the 
8duties of office, liability insurance, conditions of discipline, termination, dismissal, 
9reappointment, performance standards and leave.
10 Section 2. Upon the effective date of this act, the appointed offices of treasurer and 
11collector for the Town of Monson shall be abolished and the term of the incumbent of such 
12offices terminated; provided, however, notwithstanding Section 1, the incumbent appointed town  2 of 2
13treasurer shall be the first appointee of the new combined position of treasurer-collector and shall 
14hold the office and perform the duties thereof until the expiration of the term for which the town 
15treasurer was appointed, unless the incumbent sooner vacates that office. Thereafter, 
16appointments to the position of treasurer-collector shall be made pursuant to section l.
17 Section 3. No contracts or liabilities in force on the effective date of this act shall be 
18affected by the abolition of the appointed offices of treasurer and collector for the Town of 
19Monson or the establishment of the office of treasurer-collector pursuant to Section l, and the 
20appointed treasurer-collector shall, in all respects, be the lawful successor of the offices so 
21abolished. All records, property and equipment of the offices of the appointed treasurer and 
22collector shall be assigned to the office of the appointed treasurer-collector.
23 Section 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
