An Act relative to creditable service for Abby Levin, a member of the Massachusetts Teachers’
Retirement System.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the
2contrary, the teachers’ retirement system shall credit Abby Levin, a member of the teachers’
3retirement system, with creditable service for the service she rendered at the Northampton Center
4for Children and Families for the period of September 1, 1979 to September 1, 1980, inclusive,
5for the purpose of determining her superannuation retirement allowance pursuant to paragraph
6(a) of subdivision (2) of section 5 of chapter 32 of the General Laws. Before the date that any
7retirement allowance becomes effective for Abby Levin, she shall pay into the annuity savings
8fund of the teachers’ retirement system in 1 sum or installments, upon such terms and conditions
9as the teachers’ retirement board may prescribe, an amount equal to that which would have been
10withheld as regular deductions from her regular compensation for such previous service, plus
11buyback interest.
12 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
