An Act relative to protecting coastal communities.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Section 40 of Chapter 131 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 
2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word "section", in line 493, the 
3following:- “provided, that when establishing such regulations, the commissioner shall permit 
4the construction of a coastal engineering structure, as defined by 310 CMR 10.23, on coastal 
5dunes when an emergency or exigent situation occurs, as determined by the commissioner.”
