Kennedy for legislation relative to the use of public transportation by jurors. The Judiciary. [SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 1066 OF 2021-2022.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act incentivizing the use of public transportation by jurors. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 234A of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after 2section 55 the following section:- 3 SECTION 55A 4 PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES 5 Section 1. For days in which a juror actually appeared as directed to perform juror 6service, a juror shall be entitled to the use of services provided by the Massachusetts Bay 7Transportation Authority or any regional transit authority, as established by Chapter 161B 8Section 3 of the General Laws, without suffering any monetary loss. 2 of 2 9 Section 2. The benefit established in this section shall not be issued by means of 10reimbursement issued by the courts of the Office of Jury Commissioner.
