Worrell that the Center for African, Caribbean and Community Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston be designated as the Senator Bill Owens center. Higher Education. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act designating the Senator Bill Owens Center at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. The Center for African, Caribbean & Community Development at the 2University of Massachusetts Boston shall be designated and known as the Senator Bill Owens 3Center, in honor of his years of service and dedication to the people of the Commonwealth. 4 SECTION 2. The Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Boston, in consultation 5with the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees, shall erect and maintain suitable 6markers bearing such designation in compliance with university standards. 7 SECTION 3. Subject to appropriation, the Department of Higher Education shall provide 8not less than $250,000 for the installation of such markers and for relevant programming to 9commemorate the renaming of the Senator Bill Owens Center.
