An Act requiring licensed gun owners to submit a yearly affidavit.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Section 129B of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022
2Official Edition, is hereby amended in paragraph 8 by inserting after the word “information”, in
3line 259, the following words: – or who fails to annually notify the licensing authority pursuant
4to paragraph (11A).
5 SECTION 2. Said section 129B, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting
6after paragraph 10 the following paragraph: –
7 (11A) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph (9), a cardholder shall annually verify
8by written notice, in the form of a sworn affidavit or declaration to the licensing authority that
9issued such card, that the cardholder has not lost a firearm or had a firearm stolen from the
10cardholder's possession since the date of the cardholder's last renewal or issuance. 2 of 2
11 SECTION 3. Section 131 of said chapter 140, as so appearing, is hereby amended in
12subsection (h) by inserting after the word “information”, in line 272, the following words: – or
13who fails to annually notify the licensing authority pursuant to subsection (l).
14 SECTION 4. Said section 131, as so appearing, is hereby further amended in subsection
15(l) by adding the following sentence:– The holder of each such license to carry a firearm shall
16annually verify by written notice, in the form of a sworn affidavit or declaration to the licensing
17authority that issued such license, that the license holder has not lost a firearm or had a firearm
18stolen from the license holder's possession since the date of the license holder's last renewal or
19issuance.
