By Representative Uyterhoeven of Somerville, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 
3427) of Erika Uyterhoeven for the annual issuance of a proclamation by the Governor setting 
apart January 30 of each year as Fred Korematsu day of civil liberties and the Constitution. State 
Administration and Regulatory Oversight.

An Act designating Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Chapter 6 of the General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting after section 
215MMMMMM, the following section:-
3 Section 15NNNNNN. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart 
4January 30 of each year as Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution, in 
5recognition of the birthday of Fred Korematsu and to educate about and honor the life of Fred 
6Korematsu, his perseverance, and his determination to advocate for the civil liberties of all 
7Americans, and recommending that the day be an opportunity for civic participation and 
8observed in an appropriate manner by the people.
