Transportation. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act relative to certain motorcycle travel. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Section 4A of Chapter 89 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following words:- When 3two or more designated lanes of travel in the same direction are traveling at speeds of ten miles 4per hour or less, an operator of a motorcycle may travel in the right breakdown lane or left access 5lane or split the lanes, at a speed no greater than twenty-five miles per hour, and shall yield to 6disabled or emergency vehicles already occupying such lanes. 7 SECTION 2. Section 4B of said chapter 89, as so appearing, is hereby amended by 8inserting at the end thereof the following words:- 9 When two or more designated lanes of travel in the same direction are traveling at speeds 10of ten miles per hour or less, an operator of a motorcycle may travel in the right breakdown lane 11or left access lane or split the lanes, at a speed no greater than twenty-five miles per hour, and 12shall yield to disabled or emergency vehicles already occupying such lanes. 2 of 2 13 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect ninety days from passage and shall sunset 14Eighteen Months from that time.
