An Act restricting the use of effluent water in cooling towers.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 Chapter 21 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition is hereby 
2amended by inserting after section 27A the following section:-
3 Section 27B. Effluent water shall not be used in any cooling tower in the commonwealth. 
4For the purposes of this section a cooling tower shall be any heat rejection device which rejects 
5waste heat into the atmosphere through the cooling of a water stream to a lower temperature. The 
6division shall advise the department regarding the enforcement of this section and may prescribe 
7further restrictions on the use of effluent water through rules and regulations.
