[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 1731 OF 2023-2024.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act clarifying military buyback options. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Section 3 of Chapter 71 of the Acts of 1996, as most recently amended by 2chapter 468 of the acts of 2002, is hereby amended by striking the second paragraph. 3 SECTION 2. Paragraph (h) of subdivision (1) of section 4 of chapter 32 of the General 4Laws is hereby amended by inserting the following sentence at the end of the fourth paragraph:- 5Members in service of a retirement system eligible for such creditable service under this 6paragraph shall make application for such creditable service and complete all makeup payments 7while a member in service and before the date any retirement allowance becomes effective.
