[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 2131 OF 2023-2024.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act relative to municipal light plant emergency mutual aid. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Section 133 of Chapter 164 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition 2is hereby amended by adding in the third paragraph, in line 12, after the word “plant”, the 3following sentence:- 4 “Any municipal lighting plant providing emergency mutual aid may sell, rent, or lease 5equipment, fixtures, and goods of any description related to the provision of emergency mutual 6aid” 7 And said section is further amended by adding after the fifth paragraph the following 8sentence:- 2 of 2 9 “Any employee of a municipal lighting plant providing emergency mutual aid, shall be 10covered by the provisions of chapter thirty-two, sections one to twenty-eight, inclusive, as may 11be amended from time to time, and shall have the same rights and privileges thereunder, as if 12performing such duties within the scope of his employment including voluntary assignments 13authorized by the employer.” 14 And said section is further amended by adding in the sixth paragraph, in line 27, after the 15word “utility”, the following words:- “or its employees”.
