A BILL ENTITLED 
 
AN ACT concerning 1 
 
Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services – Executive 2 
Director – Appointment 3 
 
FOR the purpose of requiring the Governor to appoint the Executive Director of the 4 
Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services with the advice 5 
and consent of the Senate; and generally relating to the Governor’s Office of Crime 6 
Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services. 7 
 
BY adding to 8 
 Article – State Government 9 
Section 9–3501 and 9–3502 to be under the new subtitle “Subtitle 35. Governor’s 10 
Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services” 11 
 Annotated Code of Maryland 12 
 (2021 Replacement Volume) 13 
 
 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 14 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 15 
 
Article – State Government 16 
 
SUBTITLE 35. GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF CRIME PREVENTION, YOUTH, AND VICTIM 17 
SERVICES. 18

 IN THIS SUBTITLE , “OFFICE” MEANS THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF CRIME 20 
PREVENTION, YOUTH, AND VICTIM SERVICES. 21

 (A) NOTWITHSTANDING ANY O THER PROVISION OF LA W, THE GOVERNOR 1 
SHALL APPOINT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE WITH THE ADVIC E AND 2 
CONSENT OF THE SENATE. 3 
 
 (B) THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE SHALL SERVE AT THE 4 
PLEASURE OF THE GOVERNOR.  5 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Executive Director of the 6 
Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services who is serving on the 7 
effective date of this Act may continue to serve until 2 years after the effective date of this 8 
Act and may be reappointed after the expiration of the Executive Director’s term. 9 
 
 SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 10 
October 1, 2022. 11
