A BILL ENTITLED 
 
AN ACT concerning 1 
 
Public Safety – Missing Person Reports – Collection and Publication 2 
 
FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of State Police to compile and report on its 3 
website certain information on missing person reports in the State; requiring a local 4 
law enforcement agency to provide certain information on missing person reports to 5 
the Department as required by the Department; requiring the Department to adopt 6 
procedures for the collection of information from local law enforcement agencies; and 7 
generally relating to missing person cases. 8

 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 14 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 15 
 
Article – Public Safety 16 
 
3–608. 17 
 
 (A) THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE POLICE SHALL COLLECT AND PUBLISH ON 18 
ITS WEBSITE INFORMATION ON MISSING PERSON REPORTS IN THE STATE. 19 
 
 (B) THE INFORMATION PUBLISHE D UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS 20 
SECTION SHALL :  21 
 
 (1) BE DISAGGREGATED BY AGE , RACE, AND REPORTING COUNTY ; 22 
AND 23  2 	HOUSE BILL 1031  
 
 
 
 (2) PROVIDE THE NUMBER OF RESOLVED MISSING PERSON REPORTS 1 
IN THE PRECEDING MON TH. 2 
 
 (C) ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 31 EACH YEAR, THE DEPARTMENT OF 3 
STATE POLICE SHALL PUBLISH ON ITS WEBSITE A SUM MARY OF ALL INFORMATION 4 
ON MISSING PERSON REPORTS REQUIRED UNDER THIS SECTION FOR THE 5 
PRECEDING CALENDAR YEAR. 6 
 
 (D) EACH LOCAL LAW ENFORC EMENT AGENCY SHALL P ROVIDE THE 7 
DEPARTMENT OF STATE POLICE WITH INFORMATION REGARDING ANY MISSING 8 
PERSON WITHIN THE JU RISDICTION OF THE AG ENCY AS REQUIRED BY THE 9 
DEPARTMENT . 10 
 
 (E) THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE POLICE SHALL ADOPT PROCEDURES 11 
NECESSARY FOR THE COLLECTION OF INFORMATION PROVI DED BY LOCAL LAW 12 
ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AS REQUIRED UNDER SUBSECTION (D) OF THIS SECTION. 13 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 14 
1, 2024. 15
