A BILL ENTITLED 
 
AN ACT concerning 1 
 
Business Regulation – Contractors, Subcontractors, and Brokers – Prohibited 2 
Conduct  3 
 
FOR the purpose of prohibiting a person from serving or acting as a broker between a 4 
contractor and subcontractor during a certain period after the person was convicted 5 
of a certain offense under federal or state law; and generally relating to contractors, 6 
subcontractors, and brokers. 7

 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 13 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 14

 A PERSON MAY NOT SERVE OR ACT AS A BROKER BETWEEN A C ONTRACTOR 17 
AND SUBCONTRACTOR IN THE STATE DURING THE 5–YEAR PERIOD IMMEDIAT ELY 18 
FOLLOWING THE DATE T HE PERSON WAS CONVIC TED OF AN OFFENSE 19 
CONSTITUTING CRIMINAL MALFEASANCE , MISFEASANCE , OR NONFEASANCE UNDER 20 
ANY FEDERAL OR STATE LAW. 21 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 22 
October 1, 2024. 23
