FOR the purpose of requiring the Governor to include a certain appropriation in certain 3 
fiscal years to the Maryland Council on Economic Education for certain purposes; 4 
and generally relating to funding for the Maryland Council on Economic Education. 5

 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 11 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 12

 (A) FOR EACH OF FISCAL YE ARS 2026 THROUGH 2028, THE GOVERNOR 15 
SHALL INCLUDE IN THE ANNUAL BUDGET BILL A N APPROPRIATION OF $200,000 FOR 16 
THE MARYLAND COUNCIL ON ECONOMIC EDUCATION TO SUPPORT ECONOMIC AND 17 
FINANCIAL LITERACY E DUCATION OF SCHOOL –AGE CHILDREN IN THE STATE. 18

 (B) THE FUNDING PROVIDED UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION MAY 1 
BE USED ONLY TO : 2 
 
 (1) IMPROVE ECONOMIC AND PERSONAL FINANCE UND ERSTANDING 3 
AMONG STUDENTS IN TH E STATE; 4 
 
 (2) PROVIDE FREE RESOURCE S AND PROFESSIONAL D EVELOPMENT 5 
TO PUBLIC AND NONPUB LIC SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL TEACHERS TO I MPROVE 6 
THE QUALITY OF FINAN CIAL LITERACY INSTRU CTION IN THE STATE; AND 7 
 
 (3) ASSIST THE LOCAL SCHO OL SYSTEM AND THE DEPARTMENT WITH 8 
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AN D UPDATES FOR ECONOM IC AND FINANCIAL 9 
INSTRUCTION FOR SCHO OLS IN THE STATE. 10 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 11 
1, 2024. 12
