BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 18 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 19 Article – Economic Development 20 12–902. 21 There is a Prince George’s Gateway Development Authority in Prince George’s 22 County. 23 12–903. 24 2 SENATE BILL 659 (A) The Authority consists of the following members: 1 (1) the Secretary, or the Secretary’s designee; 2 (2) the Secretary of Housing and Community Development, or the 3 Secretary’s designee; 4 (3) the mayor of the City of Mount Rainier, or the mayor’s designee; 5 (4) the mayor of the Town of Brentwood, or the mayor’s designee; 6 (5) the chair of the Cottage City Commission, or the chair’s designee; 7 (6) the mayor of the City of Bladensburg, or the mayor’s designee; 8 (7) the mayor of the Town of Colmar Manor, or the mayor’s designee; 9 (8) the mayor of the Town of North Brentwood, or the mayor’s designee; 10 (9) the director of the Economic Development Department for the City of 11 Mount Rainier; and 12 (10) two members who are residents of communities impacted by the target 13 area selected by the majority vote of the leadership of the target area municipalities. 14 (B) THE AUTHORITY SHALL MEET AT LEAST FOUR TIMES PER YEAR . 15 (C) STAFF OF THE AUTHORITY SHALL PROVI DE SUPPORT FOR THE 16 OPERATION OF THE AUTHORITY IN CONSULTA TION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF 17 HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT . 18 12–904. 19 (a) The Authority may manage appropriated funds from municipalities in the 20 target area, Prince George’s County, and the State. 21 (b) The Authority may receive donated services from accountants, lawyers, or 22 other consultants as necessary to carry out this subtitle. 23 (c) The Authority may supervise, manage, and terminate staff and consultants 24 as necessary. 25 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 26 1, 2024. 27
