BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 3 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 4 Article – Health – General 5 18–110. 6 The Department, in partnership with the Department of Aging, the Virginia I. Jones 7 Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders DEMENTIAS Council, and the Greater 8 Maryland Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, shall incorporate information into 9 relevant public health outreach programs administered by the Department to: 10 (1) Educate health care providers regarding: 11 (i) The importance of early detection and timely diagnosis of 12 cognitive impairment; 13 (ii) Validated assessment tools for the detection and diagnosis of 14 cognitive impairment; 15 (iii) The value of a Medicare annual wellness visit or other annual 16 physical for an individual at least 65 years old for cognitive health; [and] 17 (iv) The Medicare care planning billing code for individuals with 18 cognitive impairment; and 19 (V) TREATMENTS APPROVED B Y THE FOOD AND DRUG 20 ADMINISTRATION FOR ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND R ELATED DEMENTIAS , 21 INCLUDING RELEVANT I NFORMATION ON TREATM ENT USE AND OUTCOMES ; AND 22 (2) Increase PUBLIC understanding and awareness of: 23 (i) The early warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease and [other types 24 of dementia] RELATED DEMENTIAS ; 25 (ii) The value of early detection [and], diagnosis, AND TREATMENT 26 of Alzheimer’s disease and [other types of dementia] RELATED DEMENTIAS ; and 27 (iii) How to reduce the risk of cognitive decline, particularly among 28 individuals in Black and Latino communities who are at greater risk of developing 29 Alzheimer’s disease and [other types of dementia] RELATED DEMENTIAS ; AND 30 HOUSE BILL 1004 3 (IV) TREATMENTS APPROVED B Y THE U.S. FOOD AND DRUG 1 ADMINISTRATION FOR ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND RELATE D DEMENTIAS AND 2 RELEVANT INFORMATION ON TREATMENT USE AND OUTCOMES, INCLUDING 3 INFORMATION RELATED TO TREATMENT OUTCOME S BASED ON BIOLOGICA L SEX. 4 18–111. 5 (A) THE DEPARTMENT , IN COLLABORATION WITH T HE STATE–DESIGNATED 6 HEALTH INFORMATION E XCHANGE, SHALL ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A PUBLICLY 7 ACCESSIBLE WEBSITE T HAT INCLUDES IN A DO WNLOADABLE FORMAT TH E 8 FOLLOWING INFORMATIO N: 9 (1) THE PREVALENCE OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND RELATE D 10 DEMENTIAS IN THE STATE; 11 (2) THE HOSPITALIZATION R ATE RELATED TO ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE 12 AND RELATED DEMENTIA S; AND 13 (3) TO THE EXTENT POSSIBL E, THE PREVALENCE AND 14 HOSPITALIZATION RATE OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND RELATE D DEMENTIAS 15 DISAGGREGATED BASED ON: 16 (I) AGE, INCLUDING AGE OF DIA GNOSIS; 17 (II) SEX; 18 (III) RACE; 19 (IV) ETHNICITY; AND 20 (V) NUMBER OF CASES BY CO UNTY; 21 (VI) CO–OCCURRENCE OF DOWN SYNDROME (TRISOMY–21); 22 AND 23 (VII) TYPE OF DEMENTIA . 24 (B) THE WEBSITE REQUIRED UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION 25 SHALL: 26 (1) INCLUDE THE DATA AVAI LABLE FOR THE IMMEDI ATELY 27 PRECEDING 5–YEAR PERIOD ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2025; AND 28 4 HOUSE BILL 1004 (2) BE UPDATED ON OR BEFO RE JANUARY 1 EACH YEAR, BEGINNING 1 IN 2027, TO INCLUDE ANY NEWLY AVAILABLE DATA . 2 SECTION 2.
