BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 20 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 21 2 HOUSE BILL 228 Article – State Government 1 9–913. 2 (a) In this section, “Fund” means the Maryland Veterans Trust Fund. 3 (b) (1) There is a Maryland Veterans Trust established for the purpose of 4 providing monetary and other assistance to: 5 (i) veterans and their families; [and] 6 (ii) MEMBERS OF THE MARYLAND NATIONAL GUARD AND 7 THEIR FAMILIES; AND 8 (III) public and private programs that support veterans and their 9 families. 10 (2) There is a Maryland Veterans Trust Fund. 11 (e) Money in the Fund may only be used to: 12 (1) make grants and loans under § 9–914.2(a)(3) of this subtitle; 13 (2) be invested under § 9–914.3(b) of this subtitle; and 14 (3) pay the costs of administering the Fund through distribution to an 15 administrative cost account in the Department. 16 9–914.2. 17 (a) The Trust shall have the powers and duties to: 18 (3) expend money from the Fund to provide grants or loans to: 19 (i) veterans and their families; 20 (ii) MEMBERS OF THE MARYLAND NATIONAL GUARD AND 21 THEIR FAMILIES; 22 (III) public and private programs that support veterans and their 23 families; or 24 [(iii)] (IV) any other programs that the Trust considers to be within 25 the purpose for which the Trust is established; 26 HOUSE BILL 228 3 SECTION 2.
