Governor’s Office for Children – Boys and Girls Clubs of Maryland – Grant 2
Funding 3
FOR the purpose of requiring the Governor to include a certain appropriation in the annual 4
budget bill each fiscal year to the Governor’s Office for Children to provide certain 5
grants for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Maryland; and generally relating to grants 6
provided by the Governor’s Office for Children. 7
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, 8

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 13
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 14

(a) (1) There is a Governor’s Office for Children. 17
(2) The Office is a separate unit within the Executive Department. 18
(b) The purpose of the Office is to provide a coordinated, comprehensive, 19
interagency approach to promoting the well–being of children and families through a 20
network of supports, programs, and services that are family and child–oriented and 21
reducing the number of children living in poverty. 22

(c) The Governor may provide for the structure, duties, and responsibilities of the 1
Office by executive order. 2
(D) IN FISCAL YEAR 2027 AND EACH FISCAL YEAR THEREAFTER , THE 3
GOVERNOR SHALL INCLUDE IN THE ANNUAL BUDGET BI LL AN APPROPRIATION OF 4
$5,000,000 TO THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE FOR CHILDREN TO PROVIDE G RANTS TO 5
FUND OPERATING EXPEN SES OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF MARYLAND. 6
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 7
1, 2025. 8
