Governor’s Office for Children – Boys and Girls Clubs of Maryland – Grant 2
Funding 3
FOR the purpose of requiring the Governor to include a certain appropriation in the annual 4
budget bill each fiscal year in certain fiscal years to the Governor’s Office for 5
Children to provide certain grants for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Maryland; and 6
generally relating to grants provided by the Governor’s Office for Children. 7

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 13
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 14

(a) (1) There is a Governor’s Office for Children. 17
(2) The Office is a separate unit within the Executive Department. 18

(b) The purpose of the Office is to provide a coordinated, comprehensive, 1
interagency approach to promoting the well–being of children and families through a 2
network of supports, programs, and services that are family and child–oriented and 3
reducing the number of children living in poverty. 4
(c) The Governor may provide for the structure, duties, and responsibilities of the 5
Office by executive order. 6
(D) IN FISCAL YEAR 2027 AND EACH FISCAL YEAR THEREAFTER FOR EACH 7
OF FISCAL YEARS 2027 THROUGH 2030, THE GOVERNOR SHALL INCLUDE IN THE 8
ANNUAL BUDGET BILL A N APPROPRIATION OF $5,000,000 $250,000 TO THE 9
GOVERNOR’S OFFICE FOR CHILDREN TO PROVIDE G RANTS TO FUND OPERAT ING 10
EXPENSES OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF MARYLAND. 11
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That thi s Act shall take effect July 12
1, 2025. 13
