The bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to implement a managed care program for
categorically eligible recipients of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program and the children's health
insurance program and members eligible for the MaineCare program. The Managed Care Program will require that
contracts are established with managed care organizations and actuarial studies and rate calculations are completed by
the department. Without this work being completed the cost of this new program will not be known and no estimate of
the cost is made at this time.
