Committee and Inaugural Committee from Registering as Lobbyists

2 as enacted by PL 2013, c. 288, §1, is repealed and the 
3 following enacted in its place:

6 or engage in activities that require registration as a lobbyist or lobbyist associate as defined 
7 by section 312‑A, subsections 10 and 10‑A, respectively, if that person has within the 
8 previous 12 months been employed in a position for which the salary is subject to 
9 adjustment by the Governor under Title 2, section 6 or that is described as a major policy-
10 influencing position under Title 5, chapter 71.  A person who violates this subsection may 
11 be assessed a fine of $100 for every day the person engages in lobbying.

13 person may not register as a lobbyist or lobbyist associate or engage in activities that require 
14 registration as a lobbyist or lobbyist associate as defined in section 312-A, subsections 10 
15 and 10-A, respectively, if that person has contributed to the transition committee or 
16 inaugural committee or expenses of a Governor-elect.  The prohibition described in this 
17 subsection is in effect for the length of the term served by the Governor-elect as Governor.  
18 A person who violates this subsection may be assessed a fine of $100 for every day the 
19 person engages in lobbying.

21 This bill prohibits a person from registering as a lobbyist or lobbyist associate or 
22 engaging in activities that require registration as a lobbyist or lobbyist associate if the 
23 person has contributed to the transitional committee or inaugural committee or expenses of 
24 a Governor-elect.  The prohibition is in effect for the length of the term served by the 
25 Governor-elect as Governor.
