3 ยง1, is further amended to read:
4 A. The amount must be paid in 4 equal quarterly payments during the year of
5 attendance. The first payment must be made by July 31st. The amount of tuition and
6 other costs paid for all students is limited to the amount appropriated for this purpose.
7 To be eligible for state funding under this paragraph, a student must have resided in
8 Maine with a the parent, other relative or guardian for at least 6 months immediately
9 preceding application to the school of the student seeking state funding must be a
10 resident of the State at the start of the school year for which tuition is to be paid.

12 This bill changes the residency requirement for a student to receive free tuition at the
13 Maine School of Science and Mathematics from the student being required to have resided
14 in the State with a parent, other relative or guardian for a period of at least 6 months to the
15 student's parent or guardian being required to be a resident of the State at the start of the
16 school year for which tuition is to be paid.
