Page 1 - 132LR1078(01) 1 2 is enacted to read: 3 4 5 6 A person offering goods or services for sale at retail may not: 7 8 of cash for the goods or services; 9 10 only an electronic method for the goods or services; 11 Post any sign stating that cash payments are not accepted; and 12 Charge a higher price to customers paying for the goods or services 13 with cash instead of by an electronic method. 14 For purposes of this section, "sale at retail" means any retail transaction conducted in 15 person and does not include a transaction conducted remotely by telephone, mail or the 16 Internet. 17 18 This bill requires a person offering goods or services at retail in person to accept cash 19 for sales of less than $2,000 and prohibits the person from accepting payment by only an 20 electronic method. These provisions do not apply to transactions conducted remotely by 21 telephone, mail or the Internet. The bill also prohibits a person offering goods or services 22 at retail from posting any sign stating that cash payments are not accepted and from 23 charging a higher price to customers paying with cash instead of by an electronic method. 18 19 20 21 22 23
