Approved: 04/01/25 LD 512 LR 1220(01) Fiscal Detail and Notes Preliminary Fiscal Impact Statement Shifting of per-pupil funding - local school administrative units This bill will not increase the total cost of public education from kindergarten to grade 12 or the State's share of that cost. This bill allows a student from a school administrative unit (SAU) with a secondary school that has a total resident student count of 200 or fewer to attend a secondary school in another SAU if approved by the receiving school and authorizes the receiving school to invoice the resident school for an amount not to exceed the state maximum allowable tuition rate. The impact on the amount of funding available to both the receiving school and the resident school can not be estimated at this time and will depend on the number of students from a SAU with a secondary school that has a total resident student count of 200 or fewer that are accepted into another SAU. 132nd MAINE LEGISLATURE An Act to Provide Educational Opportunities for Students in Secondary Schools with 200 or Fewer Students Preliminary Fiscal Impact Statement for Original Bill Sponsor: Sen.
