                    SENATE Substitute For HOUSE BILL NO. 4296 A bill to amend 1919 PA 160, entitled "An act to release legally married minors from parental control and to determine their marital rights and duties," by amending section 1 (MCL 551.251). the people of the state of michigan enact: Sec. 1. (1) Hereafter For a marriage entered into in this state before the effective date of the amendatory act that added subsection (2), the legal marriage of a minor shall release such releases that minor from parental control. ; and the The husband or wife of a minor, so released, shall be is entitled to the same rights, benefits, and privileges, and such the minor shall be is subject to the same duties, liabilities, and responsibilities, as such the husband or wife, as if such the minor husband or wife were of legal age at the time of such the marriage. (2) Hereafter it shall be It is unnecessary in any divorce suit action commenced by or against a legally married minor to have a next friend or guardian ad litem appointed for such that minor unless the circuit judge shall require it; and such judge requires it. A minor shall be is entitled to prosecute or defend any such the action in the same manner and with the same effect as if he or she were of legal age. Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless all of the following bills of the 102nd Legislature are enacted into law: (a) Senate Bill No. 209. (b) Senate Bill No. 212. (c) House Bill No. 4294.
