                    house resolution no.270 Reps. Carra, Friske, DeBoyer, Maddock, Rigas, Schriver, DeSana, Fox, Smit, Alexander, Tisdel, Beson, Roth, Wozniak, Aragona and Kunse offered the following resolution: A resolution to oppose illegal immigration and express support for legal immigration. Whereas, Illegal immigration has become a crisis that has made every state in the nation a border state; and Whereas, The Biden Administration caused this crisis by systematically dismantling sound immigration policy and preventing enforcement agents from effectively securing the southern border; and Whereas, Taxpayer-funded handouts have incentivized illegal immigration; and Whereas, Immigration caps have disincentivized legal immigration, pushing people into the hands of the cartels; and Whereas, The cartels have a profit motive to exploit our failure to secure the southern border; and Whereas, Failure to secure the border means we are unable to conduct background checks on people entering the country; and Whereas, A substantial body of evidence indicates that the United States would benefit from increasing the flow of legal immigration; and Whereas, Freedom of movement is a core element of human freedom and a promise of the American Dream; now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we urge Congress and the President of the United States to immediately secure the border and put a stop to illegal immigration; and be it further Resolved, That the sentiment of the House is that legal immigration is too hard and illegal immigration is too easy; and be it further Resolved, That immigration caps should be eliminated and legal immigration should be fostered, so long as immigrants pass a background check and the government provides no taxpayer-funded assistance; and be it further Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the President of the United States, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the President of the United States Senate, and the members of the Michigan congressional delegation.
