1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to environment; defining animal feedlots; amending Minnesota Statutes 1.3 2024, section 116.06, by adding a subdivision. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 116.06, is amended by adding a subdivision 1.6to read: 1.7 Subd. 4b.Animal feedlot.(a) "Animal feedlot" means a lot or building or combination 1.8of lots and buildings intended for the confined feeding, breeding, raising, or holding of 1.9animals: 1.10 (1) that is specifically designed as a confinement area in which manure may accumulate; 1.11or 1.12 (2) where the concentration of animals is such that a vegetative cover cannot be 1.13maintained within the enclosure. 1.14 (b) Animal feedlot includes open lots used for feeding and rearing poultry, except that 1.15a lot with 12 or fewer chickens is not an animal feedlot.
