                    1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to education; allowing modified school year start dates.​
1.3BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.4 Section 1. SCHOOL START DATE FOR THE 2026-2027 AND 2027-2028 SCHOOL​
1.5YEARS ONLY.​
1.6 Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 120A.40, paragraph (a), or other law to​
1.7the contrary, for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years only, a school board may vote​
1.8to begin the school year on September 1 or later. Nothing in this section limits a district's​
1.9authority to begin the school year on any day before Labor Day under section 120A.40,​
1.10paragraph (b).​
1.11 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.​
